Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

This has been a difficult weekend. We continue to grieve amid death, violence, racism, distrust, riots, complacency, silence, and shouting. All of this in the middle of a global pandemic. We are in need of hope. We are in need of healing. We are in need of help. We are in need of change. As people of faith we need to be advocates of change. We need to be biblically shaped and theologically informed. We need to turn and face the realities of this world. We need to take responsibility for our actions. We need to actively dismantle racism. We need to love our neighbor. We need to be a light in the darkness.

When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, he said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” In this uncertain times we need to turn to God. We also need to turn to our neighbor. We need to love and serve and support our neighbor. We need to stand together regardless of race, age, gender, Etc. Hope, healing, and help is possible!
