You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. Acts 3:15
While the majority of my identity is found in being a husband, dad, and pastor, most of you know that I am also a writer. I just finished writing a 220 page thesis. I write sermons, blogs, newsletter articles, and I have written over 100 songs. When I look back on my writings some of it is pretty good, a lot of it is not. None the less, for me, writing is an expression of emotions, joy, sorrow, frustration, and faith. When it comes down to it, I’m a pastor, not a writer.
I like to think about God as a writer. Today’s bible verse refers to Jesus as the “author of life”. Hebrews 12 says, “We do this by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith”.
One of the things I love about writing is the act of creating. God, as the author of life, creates. God creates with words. God says, “let there be light” and there was light (Genesis 1). “The word became flesh and lived among us” (John 1). “Write these words for they are trust worthy and true” (Revelation 21).
When I write, it tends to not be very good. When God writes, it is very good. “God saw everything he made, and it was very good (Genesis 1). Thank you for reading this blog, I encourage you to find a better writer to read. I know where you can find one!
